On our second day of the worshop with our teacher Miss Hood and our visiting guest artist Mr Magdi Shiha we worked with lights and sounds to create a mixed-media installation in a large space.
Firstly, Miss Hood and Magdi Shiha displayed a long sheet over the top of stacked chairs and tables as it lay draped over it and onto the ground. Beside it were chairs on both sides to create a bus kind of vehicle where we later then sat. They both also played some audio videos to create the hustle and bustle like that of the city streets of Cairo back in Magdi's hometown. Another element implemented was the effect of projecting video images onto the walls of the dark classroom giving us the feeling of teh atmosphere of Cairo.
Something new i had learnt in that second lesson with Magdi is that you can 'Paint with light' and it was amazing to watch it and observe this wonderful piece of art. When our teachers had finished their artpiece it was then our turn to have a go and try to create an artpiece using the materials we had such as, black light, white sheet, candles, celeophane, tables, chairs, the projector and the entire space of the classroom. For our first time it was pretty successful as we all played a part in implementing ideas into the artpiece. I really enjoyed making installation art and would liek to further experiment on this later on.

  1. It is wonderful to know that you learn something new and the best of all that you have the idea and skills to make your new installation art. When you think of your concept think of yourself as born here or come to Australia. What is the story that you would like to share with the culture of this nation. You might add something new as many artists and poets migrated to other countries did. You may wan to reveal your culture aspect and let everyone knows about it. Installation art is a all forms of art you can use and the video is one of the main story telling. It shows some other parts of any place and combined that to yourself now. Sound recording express how different people react together in a certain place. In Australia you have this wonderful interaction between many cultures their sounds act as a symphony in a harmonious society. This is you opportunity to listen and think of an artwork really inspiring. I'm looking forward for more of your posts and love to read what concept would you choose for your artwork. Thank you
